Role Overview
An opening is available for a full-time Housekeeper to help keep the facility clean, organized, sanitary, and welcoming for residents, visitors, and staff.
Pay and Schedule
The hourly pay range for this position is $15.30 to $15.75. The regular schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
Key Duties
This role supports daily housekeeping operations across resident rooms, shared spaces, and duplexes while following assigned schedules, facility procedures, and safety standards.
- Carry out housekeeping routines in line with department guidelines, company policies, and applicable federal, state, and local rules.
- Replenish carts and storage areas with the supplies needed for the day.
- Clean, organize, sanitize, and maintain resident rooms, common areas, and duplexes based on the assigned area.
- Alert the supervisor when supplies run low, equipment is not working properly, or maintenance support is needed beyond housekeeping responsibilities.
- Follow safety protocols and use Safety Data Sheets appropriately.
- Support other service areas when needed, including occasional shift changes and weekend coverage.
- Respond appropriately during emergencies and report unusual resident conditions.
- Help preserve each resident’s privacy, dignity, cleanliness, safety, and overall comfort.
- Protect resident health information and comply with HIPAA requirements.
- Represent the organization professionally to residents, families, vendors, volunteers, and guests.
- Build positive relationships with residents and contribute to a home-like atmosphere.
- Use cleaning supplies and equipment carefully and efficiently.
- Maintain sanitary conditions and follow infection-control and waste-disposal practices.
- Report suspected abuse, neglect, or rights violations immediately.
- Safeguard resident belongings and help look for missing items when needed.
- Complete required in-service training on time.
- Perform other assigned tasks as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates should be dependable, punctual, able to follow directions, and comfortable working in a Christian retirement center environment. Experience in long-term care housekeeping is preferred. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, though not required.
- Ability to handle normal housekeeping demands, including lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, stooping, reaching, grabbing, pushing, pulling, and standing or walking throughout the shift.
- Ability to read, write, understand directions, and communicate clearly and politely in English with residents and coworkers.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage several tasks at once.
- Warm, compassionate approach toward residents.
- Preference for routine and repetitive work.
- Willingness to follow the employee handbook, policies, and procedures.
Working Conditions
- Work is mainly indoors, with occasional tasks outside on campus or in duplexes.
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals and solutions should be expected.
- The job is performed as part of a team.
- An approved Fairhaven uniform is required.
- Weekend and holiday work may be needed occasionally.
- There is normal exposure to a healthcare setting and possible risk of infection or injury while working with elderly residents.
