Role overview

OPERS, the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System, is seeking a Full Stack Developer 1 to join its downtown Columbus team. OPERS is among the leading pension systems in the United States, and this position offers the chance to contribute to meaningful technology initiatives that support internal operations and member services.

What you will do

As part of a collaborative technology team, you will help design, develop, maintain, improve, and test batch, messaging, and web applications. Your work will support internal workflows and member-facing services, while also partnering with cross-functional colleagues to create practical solutions that strengthen the organization’s technology environment.

This role is well suited to someone who is adaptable, motivated, and eager to work on projects where the output has visible day-to-day impact.

What the role requires

Applicants should bring a strong commitment to producing high-quality work and a solid working knowledge of automated unit testing, HTML5, object-oriented programming design, REST API design and development, and relational databases.

A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is preferred. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree in any discipline may also qualify if they have completed Java-focused training. Individuals without a bachelor’s degree may still be considered if they have an additional 4 years of relevant experience.

Compensation and benefits

The position offers a salary range of $72,363.20 to $90,417.60 along with a stable career opportunity in a well-established organization.

Location and workplace expectations

The role is based in downtown Columbus, Ohio, and candidates must be able to live within commuting distance of Columbus. The office is near German Village and the Short North District.
