Descrição da vaga

Role overview

This contract position is focused on designing, checking, and finalizing fiber network routes and records for a telecom project. The role ensures that topology, capacity, splicing, ODF connectivity, route diversity, and implementation-ready documentation are aligned with service needs and the downstream transport/IP design.

Key responsibilities

  • Create fiber network plans for backbone, metro, access, inter-site links, route redundancy, and PoP/site connectivity.
  • Review existing fiber inventory, GIS information, duct and route data, ODF records, splice diagrams, and field survey outputs to spot gaps and constraints.
  • Build route plans, fiber allocation plans, cable/core utilization views, ODF and patching requirements, and diversity analyses.
  • Work closely with civil works, field survey, implementation, operations, and vendor teams to confirm routes, distances, feasibility, and access needs.
  • Make sure the fiber design can support DWDM, IP/MPLS, enterprise, wholesale, and mission-critical services.
  • Set and apply naming standards, route IDs, fiber core assignments, splice references, and documentation rules.
  • Help reconcile planned fiber data with physical inventory, as-built records, and circuit information.
  • Flag planning risks such as single points of failure, lack of capacity, incorrect records, route clashes, or missing supporting evidence.
  • Keep planning trackers up to date and prepare clean datasets for inventory updates, implementation, and reporting.

Required background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • At least 7 years of experience in fiber network planning, OSP/ISP design, telecom rollout, or fiber inventory engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of fiber topology, ODFs, splicing, patching, cable architecture, route diversity, GIS, and as-built documentation.
  • Hands-on experience with telecom GIS tools, fiber inventory platforms, network design applications, and structured planning data.
  • Ability to interpret and validate route drawings, splice plans, OTDR results, evidence files, and physical connectivity records.
  • Experience working with multiple field teams, contractors, and implementation vendors.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English is required.
  • Fiber optic design and/or installation certification is preferred.
  • FTTx/OSP planning certification is preferred.
  • Training in GIS or telecom inventory platforms is an added advantage.

Working style and strengths

  • Excellent stakeholder coordination with both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Very high attention to detail and a strong quality-focused approach.
  • Comfortable working under tight delivery timelines without compromising accuracy or governance.
  • Strong ownership and problem-solving ability for assigned deliverables.
  • Collaborative attitude across planning, engineering, operations, rollout, and vendor groups.

Additional notes

This role requires Arabic and English fluency and is intended for a Damascus-based assignment in Dubai. No stipend or salary details were provided in the source.
