Role Summary
The Estimator will prepare material take-offs for residential and light commercial projects, using sound knowledge of construction methods, materials, and common building practices. This role supports Carter Lumber’s mission by delivering accurate estimates and maintaining a strong focus on customer service.
What You’ll Do
- Produce timely material take-offs for residential and commercial plans from a wide range of blueprints.
- Study construction documents to identify the materials needed for each bid.
- Spot and correct any possible errors or gaps in material lists.
- Partner with outside sales representatives on all blueprint-related matters.
- Track the progress of take-offs and help sales teams move projects toward completion.
What We’re Looking For
- At least 2 years of experience in residential and light commercial construction, or 2 years in estimating.
- Solid understanding of home, pole building, garage, barn, and deck components.
- Ability to interpret blueprints accurately.
- Background in building material sales.
- Familiarity with professional estimating software.
- Comfort using Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
