Engineer, Procurement & Contracts (Project Support Team - Gas Ops)

Job purpose

In this role, you will drive procurement and contract-related work for major and technical projects, including both direct buying and procurement handled through EPC contractors. The position involves managing tender reviews, shaping contracts, and handling post-award contract activities while ensuring alignment with project goals.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute timely and accurate input for defining project contracting approaches that match project needs.
• Draft, revise, and maintain contracts and related documents so the company’s interests are protected against operational, financial, legal, and other third-party risks.
• Carry out procurement activities from pre-qualification through to award recommendation in accordance with approved procedures and policies.
• Spot contract-related risks and work to reduce them through suitable terms and conditions.
• Review scopes of work to reduce the chance of contract misunderstandings and to limit variations and claims during execution.
• Help prepare contractual replies to contractor issues raised during tendering and project execution.
• Assess situations and shape negotiation tactics that help manage changes, variations, and claims while limiting contract impacts.
• Coordinate follow-up actions to support the timely delivery of purchased materials.
• Assist with contract close-out activities and the issuance of completion certificates in line with contract requirements.

Qualifications, experience, knowledge and skills

• A bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.
• At least 6 years of experience in procurement and contracts work for oil and gas projects.
• Solid understanding of contract terms and conditions, commercial judgment, and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with standard contracting formats used across the industry and how they function in practice.
• Background in both pre-award and post-award project stages.
• Exposure to commercial and legal issues that affect project delivery and business operations.
• Strong hands-on experience in contract management for capital projects in the oil and gas sector.
• Practical experience with enquiry preparation, enquiry handling, tender analysis, contract drafting, and contract administration.
• Knowledge of purchasing, inspection, expediting, shipping, material control, and project procurement processes.
• Strong understanding of materials commonly used in the oil and gas industry.
• Deep knowledge of oil and gas codes and standards, with the ability to apply them in contracting and supply chain systems design.
• Working knowledge of vendors, suppliers, expediting, freight forwarding, shipping, and customs procedures for large international projects.
• Good understanding of project procurement plans, subcontractor technical and quality assessment, agreement preparation, vendor management, and delivery expediting.
• Knowledge of HSE procedures and practices.
• Awareness of applicable UAE laws and regulations.
• Ability to plan, organise, schedule, coordinate, check, examine, and record work accurately.
