Role overview
The Data Science and AI Division (DSAD) is hiring a Data Scientist to work as an individual contributor. In this role, you will use advanced analytics and machine learning to turn organisational data into practical insights, support smarter decisions, and strengthen a data-driven way of working. Your work will contribute to areas such as fraud detection, citizen protection, policy development, and regulatory decision-making.
What you will do
- Partner with business teams to understand their data challenges and help deliver data science solutions such as predictive models, dashboards, and other analytical outputs.
- Check data quality, spot inconsistencies or unusual patterns, and work with data engineering teams to fix issues and maintain reliable datasets.
- Use techniques ranging from descriptive analysis to machine learning to build models for risk scoring, fraud detection, and regulatory reporting that support operational and strategic choices.
- Present findings through clear visualisations and translate them into practical recommendations for both business stakeholders and leadership.
- Promote data literacy and strong data governance practices across the organisation so data is treated as a strategic asset.
What the team is looking for
- Strong capability in statistical analysis, machine learning, and predictive modelling, with practical experience using Python, R, SQL, Spark, and visualisation tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Exposure to developing machine learning models at scale, including solutions used for risk scoring or fraud detection.
- Some experience with deploying analytics solutions on enterprise data platforms, AWS or similar cloud environments, Kubernetes, or CI/CD pipelines for scalable delivery.
- Ability to work independently on data science tasks while being receptive to direction and feedback from senior colleagues.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable handling multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
- Interest in solving complex problems and converting business or regulatory needs into clear analytical approaches.
- Collaborative mindset and willingness to work across product, engineering, and business functions.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain analytical results clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
