About the company

Sky is a New Zealand media business built around creating memorable viewing moments for audiences across Aotearoa. The organisation aims to be the country’s most essential and compelling media destination, bringing sport, entertainment, and stories to people wherever they are, whenever they want them.

The team culture is guided by care, inclusion, and integrity, with a strong belief that the way work is done matters as much as the outcome.

About the role

This permanent full-time role is based in Auckland at Mount Wellington. As a Content Planner, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of sporting codes or entertainment channels, depending on the stream of work assigned. You will use the supplied information and the content strategy to build accurate schedules for live events, related programming, linear channels, and digital content.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate schedules for selected sports and their tournaments or competitions, including live broadcasts, replays, highlights, and other related programming.
  • For entertainment scheduling, prepare and share detailed channel plans for multiple Sky-owned and operated entertainment channels or Prime with the offshore scheduling team.
  • Work with the full scheduling workflow, including content, advertising, promotions, and on-demand elements.
  • Carry out schedule execution in IBMS for the work you own.
  • Help ensure Sky content is delivered accurately, on time, and ready for playout without errors.
  • Adjust schedules for late changes with minimal disruption to operations.
  • Keep the wider content strategy in mind when placing programmes so the final schedule supports channel and platform goals.
  • Share ideas for improving content planning processes and help drive a more reliable first-time-right delivery model.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders such as advertising traffic, on-air, promotions, and customer teams when needed.
  • Build capability by learning from peers, exchanging scheduling approaches, and contributing to team performance.
  • Maintain regular communication with onsite and offshore colleagues to support daily scheduling delivery.

What you will bring

  • Practical experience in scheduling and a solid understanding of how the television industry operates.
  • Prior exposure to automated scheduling tools or systems.
  • Working knowledge of workflows within a broadcast or television environment.
  • Understanding of Broadcast Standards Authority rules and how they affect scheduling decisions.
  • Comfort using Microsoft Office tools, including Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel, at basic, intermediate, or advanced level.

Benefits

  • Complimentary access to Sky, Sky Sport Now, and Neon.
  • Free onsite parking at the Mount Wellington office.
  • Flexible and supportive team culture where ideas are valued.
  • Strong career development opportunities with clear pathways for growth.
  • Discounted Southern Cross health insurance.
  • Discounted YMCA gym membership.
