Role overview
In this position, you will identify potential customers, reach out to prospects, educate them about the offering, and determine whether they are a fit. Your outreach will primarily happen through cold calling, email, and social networking, with the goal of booking demos for the Account Executive team.
Who this role may suit
Candidates from non-technology sales backgrounds such as car sales, insurance sales, phone sales, or logistics sales, as well as those with technical backgrounds in cybersecurity, computer science, IT, or related fields, are encouraged to apply if they want to move into tech sales.
Key duties
- Build your own pipeline by consistently bringing in new qualified prospects.
- Research, contact, qualify, organize, and monitor leads throughout the sales process.
- Meet and aim to exceed daily targets and KPIs, including minimum call and email activity set by your manager.
- Use consultative cold-calling techniques that show confidence, clear communication, persistence, and the ability to handle objections.
- Keep records accurate in Salesforce, update contact data, maintain forecast quality, and share relevant opportunity details.
- Stay current on market trends and competitor activity.
- Take on additional tasks as required.
Candidate profile
You should be highly competitive, energetic, and motivated by performance in a quota-based environment. The role also calls for strong written and verbal communication, active listening, analytical thinking, solid organization, time management, and the ability to work independently while following team processes and policies.
Comfort with technology and the ability to communicate the value of IT management software are important. Prior experience with call-volume or talk-time targets is helpful. A positive attitude, strong work ethic, coachability, and eagerness to learn are also expected.
Tools and experience that help
Experience with Salesforce or another CRM, SalesLoft, and similar sales tools is a plus. Familiarity with IT departments, resellers, MSPs, or selling to Director- and C-level IT leaders is also beneficial.
