MTM Engineering is looking to appoint a Group Procurement Manager for a brand-new position in the business. The role may be based in either the Derry or Dublin office and will report to the Procurement Director.

The procurement function works in a decentralised way, meaning project and delivery teams handle the purchasing activity day to day. This position operates at Group level to set direction, provide oversight and commercial advice, and ensure procurement across all MTM Group companies, regions and projects remains controlled, compliant and aligned to business needs.

Its main objective is to shape, build and embed the Group procurement strategy, while putting in place robust frameworks that support efficient and compliant purchasing across all locations. The role will also contribute to MTM’s growth and transformation agenda by helping develop procurement processes for future markets and regions as the Group expands.

Core areas of ownership include policy creation, governance, procurement controls, compliance, supplier onboarding, escalation of risk and adding value through better reporting, guidance and procurement operating models.

In addition, the role will act as a commercial partner to project teams, ensuring procurement supports delivery rather than creating barriers. Some travel between MTM Group locations may be required from time to time.

Key responsibilities

  • Set Group-wide procurement governance standards across MTM Group companies, operating regions and projects.
  • Help design, refine and embed the procurement strategy in line with business growth and operational needs.
  • Oversee procurement frameworks across the business within a decentralised purchasing model.
  • Create, maintain and improve procurement policies, standards and governance structures.
  • Ensure Group procurement requirements are applied consistently across all sites and projects.
  • Run governance meetings, supplier review sessions and procurement escalation forums.
  • Manage procurement audits, compliance reporting and governance reviews for the Group.
  • Maintain controls covering delegated authority, approval limits, supplier onboarding and procurement risk escalation.
  • Track KPI performance to support compliance and encourage strong procurement behaviours.
  • Oversee supplier onboarding, approval workflows and Group-level supplier governance requirements.
  • Develop standard commercial terms, templates and procurement guidance covering contracts, payment structures and risk allocation.
  • Provide oversight of subcontract procurement activity to support compliance and better project decision-making.
  • Help build future procurement processes as the Group moves into new markets and regions.
  • Equip project teams with practical tools, templates and commercial support.
  • Maintain Group-wide spend visibility through effective systems, reporting and governance.
  • Support ongoing improvement in procurement capability and overall operating maturity across the Group.

Requirements

  • Substantial experience in a senior procurement, commercial or procurement governance position, ideally across Group, regional or multi-site settings.
  • Strong understanding of procurement governance, policy development and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience working in, or supporting, decentralised procurement environments is highly desirable.
  • Commercial judgement with solid knowledge of contracts, risk management and supplier governance.
  • Ability to influence and work effectively with cross-functional stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical capability, including spend visibility, compliance reporting and performance metrics.
  • Experience managing procurement audits, governance reviews or procurement control frameworks.
  • Background in procurement transformation, governance implementation or maturity improvement is preferred.
  • Experience in construction, engineering, electrical contracting, data centres, infrastructure or mission-critical projects would be beneficial.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

This is a newly created role within the Group structure. The position is focused on governance, oversight and commercial guidance rather than day-to-day buying activity. Occasional travel between MTM locations may be necessary.
