Overview
This full-time bookkeeper opportunity is based in Goderich, Ontario, with Food Basics. Although the role is described as temporary coverage for an approximate 3 to 4 weeks or longer absence, the posting also states that the employment type is permanent. Compensation

Key Responsibilities
- Maintain pricing accuracy in the store by preparing reports, producing and updating signage, and checking aisle information.
- Handle payroll-related tasks such as entering schedules, correcting time punches, maintaining employee records, and verifying and sending payroll data.
- Support front-end store operations as needed.
- Manage employee files, including new hire documentation, orientation and training materials, updates, terminations, and benefits-related records.
- Process receiving logs by entering invoices, credits, and transfers, reconciling with the backdoor log, and filing invoices properly.
- Assist with accounting activities related to perishable inventory.
- Follow the company’s customer service standards and policies.
- Comply with company procedures and all relevant health, safety, sanitation, and security regulations.
- Provide administrative support to the Store Manager and leadership team.
- Carry out additional duties assigned by the Store Manager.
Qualifications
- Community college graduation or an equivalent blend of education, training, and work experience.
- At least 1 year of office, bookkeeping, and/or accounting experience in a retail setting, including payroll exposure.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, organization, and analytical abilities.
- Capability to manage multiple priorities and stay composed under pressure.
- Solid computer proficiency, including BDMS, Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.
- Availability to work daytime, evening, and weekend shifts when required.
