Software Engineer Intern (Fall 2026)

About the Role

This is the first engineering internship cohort, created to help shape a fast, dependable, and secure product experience for a large and growing user base. The internship lasts 12 weeks, and interns will work alongside a mentor and the engineering team on AI-native projects that create value for both customers and internal builders. The internship runs from September 14 to December 4 and requires working from the San Francisco office during that period.

What You Will Do

• Produce code that is clean, secure, tested, and well documented.
• Improve the product by building new capabilities with an AI-first approach.
• Develop, troubleshoot, and refine software across the full stack, including web services, databases, applications, and tooling, using modern frameworks and development tools.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline, with graduation required before Summer 2027.
• Prior internship experience is required.
• Working knowledge of at least one programming language such as TypeScript, Node.js, or Python.
• Comfort with big, complex problems and with identifying issues as well as resolving them.
• Ability to solve problems and adapt quickly in a fast-moving, changing environment.
• Availability to work from the San Francisco office during the September 14 to December 4 internship window.

Skills You'll Bring

• Interest in AI, including experience building or prototyping with LLMs, embeddings, or machine learning.
• Structured problem-solving and the ability to break down difficult challenges into clear steps.
• User-centered thinking and awareness of the broader impact of product decisions.
• Pragmatic approach to technology choices and willingness to learn new tools when needed.
• Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain technical decisions and collaborate effectively.
• Strong teamwork and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to Have

• Hands-on experience with parts of the stack such as TypeScript, React, or Python.
• Familiarity with computing pioneers such as Ada Lovelace, Douglas Engelbart, and Alan Kay.
• Interests outside technology, such as art, history, or social sciences.

Compensation and Benefits

The company offers competitive cash compensation, equity, and benefits. Pay is influenced by factors such as location, scope, and the candidate’s background. For San Francisco-based roles, the estimated hourly range is $57 for bachelor’s degree candidates and $61 for master’s degree candidates.
