Senior Test Automation Engineer

Position overview

This role is for a detail-focused automation test engineer with strong hands-on experience in Selenium WebDriver and SQL database validation. The selected candidate will create and maintain automated test coverage for web UI flows while also checking backend data handling, storage, and transaction integrity. A key part of the job is making sure what users see on the frontend is accurately reflected in the database.

Core responsibilities

• Design, build, improve, and support scalable automation frameworks such as Page Object Model from the ground up using Selenium WebDriver with Java or Python.
• Create and run advanced SQL queries, including joins, subqueries, and indexing checks, to validate backend data and confirm end-to-end integrity.
• Connect automation flows with JDBC or similar database connectors so UI output can be compared directly with database records.
• Study business needs and technical documentation to develop test scenarios, automation scripts, and suitable test data.
• Execute automated regression suites, investigate failures, and prepare clear test status reports with tools such as TestNG or JUnit.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and manage source code through GitHub.
• Work closely with developers and product managers in sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives within an Agile environment.

Required qualifications

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline.
• 6 to 11 years of professional experience in software quality assurance with a strong emphasis on automation.
• Strong programming ability in Java or Python, along with deep knowledge of the Selenium suite.
• Solid command of relational databases such as MySQL, MS SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL, plus advanced SQL writing skills.
• Practical exposure to TestNG or JUnit and BDD-based frameworks like Cucumber.
• Experience validating RESTful APIs using tools such as Postman or RestAssured is considered an added advantage.
• Good working knowledge of Jira or comparable Agile defect and project tracking tools.
