Role overview
This position focuses on bringing in new business banking MSME relationships and expanding the asset book by offering working capital facilities and term loans to MSME customers. The role uses a CRM-led approach along with knowledge-based market outreach to identify and convert opportunities.
Core responsibilities
- Find and approach prospective clients by studying market segments, industries, customer groups, and market trends.
- Lead the sourcing, structuring, and rollout of financial solutions aligned to mid-market requirements.
- Assess company creditworthiness and design appropriate funding solutions, including structured finance, project finance, and off-balance-sheet options.
- Look for cross-sell opportunities by understanding the bank’s product suite and the client’s overall relationship with the bank.
- Work toward business targets covering earnings, assets, liabilities, credit quality, and other budgeted objectives across product lines.
- Track account performance regularly and take proactive steps to reduce risk where needed.
- Maintain strong client relationships through consistent communication, negotiation, and service delivery tailored to customer needs.
- Ensure documentation remains accurate and high quality, while staying aligned with process compliance and coordination requirements across product partners, OSD, Risk Management, and other relationship teams.
People management and self-management
- Set annual performance goals with the reporting manager and stay on track to achieve them through the year.
- Take responsibility for personal learning by identifying development needs and closing gaps through methods beyond formal training.
- Build and demonstrate the competencies required for the role.
- Stay updated on industry developments, new methods, and current issues through ongoing learning and professional networks.
Risk and internal controls
- Follow risk policies and processes to manage operational, regulatory, financial, information, reputational, and audit-related exposure as directed by the manager.
- Carry out internal control procedures and prepare information needed for audits whenever required.
Key interactions
Internal: Coordinate with Risk Management to improve loan turnaround time and ensure smooth customer onboarding. Work with Branch Banking teams to support acquisition of new business banking MSME relationships through CRM.
External: Engage with MSME associations to support new business banking MSME relationship acquisition through a knowledge-led outreach approach.
Requirements
- CA or a master’s degree in Financial Management is preferred.
- Professional qualifications such as CA, CFA, MBA, or PGDM are relevant.
- Additional credentials in AMFI, NCFM, IRDA, or Trade Finance will be an advantage.
- Strong written and spoken English skills are required.
- At least 5 to 7 years of relevant experience is needed.
- Prior experience in SME or mid-market lending is expected.
