Role overview
This position is with a global manpower services company serving the Energy, Infrastructure, and IT industries. The assignment supports a major oil and gas operator and is offered as a long-term contract opportunity.
The job is based at an onshore site in Qatar, specifically Ras Laffan. The expected start is as soon as possible, usually within a one-month notice period.
The normal work pattern is 5 days each week, with daily hours of 8 to 10, or otherwise as required by the project.
Key accountabilities
- Lead and coordinate QA/QC inspectors, contract engineers/inspectors, and NDT technicians while ensuring all activities follow the required procedures.
- Carry out metallurgical failure investigations on failed plant or offshore parts and prepare conclusions on likely causes and recommended actions.
- Support QA/QC input for materials and equipment procurement, including review of purchase requisitions, inspection and certification needs, technical bid reviews, appointment of third-party inspection resources, and inspection of incoming materials at the warehouse.
- Review critical repair documentation such as WPS, PQR, and QA/QC reports prepared by inspectors and engineers, and identify suitable alternative testing or inspection methods where repair or modification work requires them.
- Contribute QA/QC input to startup readiness, lessons learned, formal risk assessments, engineering management of change, and root cause failure analysis activities.
- Provide technical support for scopes of work tied to maintenance contracts for repair and modification jobs, take part in technical bid evaluations, review contractor submissions, and verify compliance with QA/QC standards.
- Organize and execute technical audits of supplier and contractor quality management systems, assess findings, recommend improvements, and follow up on observations and corrective actions.
- Help raise quality awareness across Maintenance, Supply, and contractor teams through training sessions, knowledge-sharing activities, and procedure rollout support.
- Plan and ensure the timely inspection and certification of gas cylinders, portable tanks, and lifting equipment in line with section KPIs.
- Support, review, and update project and plant QA/QC procedures such as material receiving inspection and welding control, along with related procedures as needed.
- Assist with the Operations Readiness Plan process by tracking deliverables, meeting target milestone dates, and supporting proper handover and completion in line with company policy.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.
- Professional certifications in welding, NDT, inspection, or auditing are expected.
- At least 4 years of experience in QA/QC work within the oil and gas industry is needed.
- Strong familiarity with design, engineering, procurement, fabrication, inspection, and installation of process equipment and piping is essential.
- Hands-on ability to troubleshoot welding and QA/QC-related issues is required.

This is a long-term contract assignment. The working pattern may vary according to project needs, and the role is situated on an onshore Qatar site.
