Role Purpose

This position is for a Piping & Layout Engineer supporting the COMP3 project within the Engineering Fixed Facilities Department. The role reports to the Piping & Layout Lead and contributes to engineering delivery across the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

You will be expected to carry out your work in line with quality, health, safety, and environmental requirements, while supporting project goals and contractual commitments.

• Contribute technical know-how and commercial input during early-stage development and feasibility work.
• Support bidding and proposal activities, including bills of material, layout proposals, and man-hour and cost estimates.
• Provide piping and layout engineering support across assigned projects.
• Help ensure deliverables meet quality standards, project targets, and contractual obligations.
• Review technical inputs such as specifications, calculations, and drawings to identify scope and risk.
• Look for design solutions that improve efficiency and reduce overall project cost.
• Estimate quantities or verify estimates prepared by other team members.
• Review documents produced internally or by subcontractors, including reports, technical specifications, and drawings.
• Prepare piping and layout methodologies and design premises with all required design data and guidelines.
• Check that technical documents align with the available budget, resources, and execution approach.
• Coordinate the team’s work, including resource planning and mobilization follow-up.
• Track and report progress, including 3D discipline checks, man-hours, and document delivery status.
• Control input data for team activities and review output documents before issue.
• Participate in internal reviews and inter-discipline coordination meetings.
• Support the project team as well as procurement, subcontracting, and construction functions.
• Oversee the preparation of specifications, requisitions, and technical bid evaluations.
• Escalate technical, financial, or schedule risks promptly to the project piping and layout leader.
• Capture lessons learned and feed them into the department’s improvement process.
• Support construction and start-up activities, including test circuit verification, field engineering, site adjustments, and material management.

Requirements

• A master’s degree in engineering is required.
• At least 5 to 10 years of experience in piping and layout engineering is needed.
• Strong command of English is essential.
• Experience in offshore and onshore operations follow-up is expected.
• Previous EPC project exposure is required.
• Ability to carry out design, verification, and study tasks assigned by the Piping & Layout Lead.
• Comfort working with project specialists, designers, and draftsmen, and coordinating technical tasks inside or outside the company.
• Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Project and the Microsoft Office suite.
• Advanced Excel capability is specifically mentioned.

This is a permanent contract tied to a project-based assignment. The role is located in Doha, Qatar and follows a 45-hour work week, structured as 9 hours per day across 5 days.
