Mill Helper

About the role

Amrize is hiring a Mill Helper for its Woodstock, Ontario site. This position supports aggregate production by combining housekeeping duties, operation of fixed and mobile equipment, and routine maintenance and repair work as assigned. The role offers pay in the range of $27 to $28 per hour, along with benefits and a pension plan after 3 months.

The work schedule may include split shifts such as 3:30 pm to 1:30 am or 9:45 pm to 6:45 am, Monday through Friday. Overtime may be required, and weekend work can occasionally be part of the schedule.

Key duties

• Help build and maintain a strong safety culture by working with employees, the JHSC, subcontractors, and suppliers, while supporting local and regional safety initiatives aimed at eliminating incidents.
• Follow safety rules, processes, and review steps so the site stays aligned with company and regulatory standards.
• Keep the plant and surrounding work area safe, tidy, and fully operational.
• Work with safety-related procedures and reporting processes such as near misses, hazard/incidents, motor vehicle accidents, first aid events, medical incidents, lost-time incidents, daily safety huddles, risk assessments, confined space permits, and work-at-heights permits.
• Carry out daily inspections as part of the preventive maintenance program and help fix damaged or faulty equipment.
• Support plant repairs when needed and work at height when required.
• Complete cleaning tasks using a skid steer or hand tools.
• Perform pre-operation inspections and operate mobile equipment assigned to you once trained and directed.
• Show consistent commitment to health, safety, and environmental practices in every work setting, and encourage others to do the same.

Requirements

• High school diploma or an equivalent credential.
• Experience in an industrial or mining plant is an asset, but not mandatory.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment is an asset, but not required.
• Basic welding and fitting skills are an asset, but not required.

Additional requirements

• Must be comfortable working outdoors in changing weather and temperatures.
• Must also be able to work indoors in environments that may be hot, noisy, or dusty.
• Should be able to move throughout all parts of the plant, including stairs and ladders.
• The job involves frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting items under 50 lbs.
• All selected candidates must follow site safety procedures and use company-approved PPE, including respirators where needed.
• Anyone required to wear a respirator must be clean-shaven at the seal area to pass qualitative and quantitative fit testing.
