Role overview

This is a full-time, on-site position in Saint John, New Brunswick, focused on handling materials safely and accurately within the warehouse and yard. The Material Handler supports the flow of goods by loading and unloading shipments, moving stock with suitable equipment, and keeping inventory organized and traceable.

Key duties

Day-to-day work includes receiving deliveries, checking incoming materials against paperwork, picking and packing customer orders, and getting outbound shipments ready. The role also involves moving items into their assigned locations, applying labels, maintaining stock rotation, helping with cycle counts, and keeping inventory records up to date. In addition, the job requires maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe workspace while working closely with colleagues and supervisors to meet shipping deadlines accurately.

Qualifications and working requirements

Applicants should have experience handling materials in a warehouse or similar setting, with practical knowledge of moving, sorting, and storing products efficiently. Familiarity with shipping and receiving processes, including verifying documentation and quantities, is important. The role calls for safe use of warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and possibly overhead cranes, with current or obtainable certification considered an advantage. Because the work is physically active, candidates must be comfortable lifting, carrying, and standing for long periods while following safety procedures. Strong attention to detail, basic numerical ability, and the capacity to follow both written and spoken instructions are also needed. Good communication, teamwork, reliability, and punctual attendance are expected. Experience in industrial distribution, construction supply, or a comparable warehouse environment is beneficial. A high school diploma or an equivalent qualification is preferred.
