Role overview
The HR Advisor role supports everyday HR operations and advisory work across employee lifecycle processes, core programs, and service delivery. Reporting into HR leadership and working closely with HR Business Partners, Centres of Excellence, and business leaders, this position helps ensure employees and managers receive timely, consistent, and high-quality support. The role also contributes to HR documentation, transactions, reporting, continuous improvement, and the use of approved AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency while protecting privacy and compliance.

Key responsibilities
- Provide confidential, prompt, and service-focused HR guidance to leaders and employees within assigned client groups.
- Work with HRBPs, COEs, and business leaders to support workforce activities and broader organizational needs.
- Offer day-to-day advice on HR matters such as policy questions, recruitment support, performance management, and employee lifecycle events.
- Coordinate onboarding and offboarding activities when needed.
- Escalate sensitive, complex, or high-risk situations to the Director, HRBP.
- Support HR programs such as performance management, goal setting, employee engagement surveys, talent management, and year-end activities.
- Coordinate communications, tracking, and follow-up for HR initiatives and programs.
- Suggest improvements that can strengthen program delivery, manager support, and employee experience.
- Interpret HR policies, procedures, agreements, and applicable legislation for routine matters.
- Manage position changes and related updates in Workday in partnership with HR teams and business leaders.
- Process HR transactions in Workday, including internal offers, job changes, and resignations, and help resolve related issues.
- Draft HR documents such as employment verification letters, offer letters, termination letters, probation extension letters, and performance improvement plans.
- Ensure work is completed accurately and in line with process standards, controls, and service expectations.
- Prepare recurring and ad hoc reports, dashboards, and metrics to support planning and operational decisions.
- Review data quality and work with COEs to resolve gaps in HR systems, documentation, and reporting.
- Analyze HR data for patterns, themes, and opportunities, then turn findings into practical recommendations.
- Assess HR workflows, templates, and processes to find opportunities to simplify work, improve service, and strengthen controls.
- Use technology and approved AI tools to support analysis, streamline routine tasks, and improve efficiency while maintaining confidentiality and compliance.
Requirements
- Post-secondary education from a university or college, ideally in Human Resources or a related discipline.
- Between 2 and 5 years of HR experience in a support, coordination, or advisory position.
- Working knowledge of the Ontario Employment Standards Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, and other relevant employment laws.
- Background in employee relations and policy interpretation is considered an advantage.
- Hands-on experience using HRIS platforms is required, and experience with Workday is strongly preferred.
- Strong relationship-building, collaboration, and communication abilities with a client-service mindset.
- Good judgment, discretion, and comfort handling confidential and uncertain situations professionally.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret HR data and convert insights into action.
- Strong organization and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and ease working with HR systems and digital tools.
Compensation and employment details
The salary range for this role is CAD $71,000 to $109,000 per year. Actual pay may differ based on the selected candidate’s experience and expertise. This position is eligible for discretionary incentive plan participation, subject to the applicable plan terms. The opening is for an existing vacancy.

The role is based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and is onsite. Artificial intelligence tools may be used to support parts of the hiring process, but final screening and selection decisions remain with human reviewers.
