Role overview

Boots is hiring a Dispenser to join its in-store pharmacy team in Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom. In this position, you will help pharmacists and other healthcare colleagues deliver pharmacy and healthcare services safely and efficiently.

You will work in the healthcare area of the store, engaging with patients, learning about their needs, and supporting them with medicines and health information. The role includes welcoming customers, preparing prescriptions, ensuring medicines are supplied safely, and offering guidance that helps people make informed choices about their health and wellbeing.

This is an on-site position in a UK store. Applications from remote candidates will not be considered. Candidates based outside the UK will only move forward if they can show relevant UK qualifications and proof of the right to work in the UK.

The hourly pay for this role is £13.92, rising to as much as £16.64 in selected London locations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare prescriptions and help make sure medicines are supplied safely, including ordering, labelling, dispensing, endorsing, and handing out prescriptions.
• Work alongside store healthcare professionals to support the day-to-day running and delivery of pharmacy services.
• Offer care and medicines advice to patients, and direct questions to the pharmacist when needed.
• Follow standard operating procedures to ensure prescriptions are dispensed safely and legally.
• Stay current with in-store improvements, new processes, and operational changes.
• Help patients manage repeat prescriptions and take medicines effectively to support adherence and reduce waste.
• Use evolving in-store technology and new systems that improve dispensing workflows and create more time for patient care.

Training and development

You will receive regular updates and training to strengthen your healthcare knowledge, along with career growth opportunities such as training to become a Pharmacy Technician or progressing into the store leadership team.

Requirements

• Completed the Pharmacy Advisor qualification at NVQ2 level, or currently working towards it after completing the first year of an MPharm degree.
• Current UK right to work is essential.
• This position cannot be sponsored under the Skilled Worker Visa route.
• Experience in a community pharmacy setting would be an advantage.
