Role overview
The Group Actuarial team is looking for a driven Data Scientist who can turn complex data into practical business and analytical solutions. The role involves building, deploying, and improving data products that support both technical teams and business users.
What you will do
- Develop and roll out data-driven solutions using R, RShiny, Python, and SQL to study and interpret large, complex datasets.
- Apply large language models, OCR, and web scraping methods to pull information from unstructured sources and convert it into usable data.
- Work with cloud environments such as Google Cloud Platform and Azure to create scalable data pipelines and efficient analytical setups.
- Use mathematical, statistical, modelling, machine learning, and optimization techniques to solve business problems.
- Handle data management tasks including database understanding, cleansing, transformation, and visualization.
- Design easy-to-use interfaces with Shiny or Dash so non-technical users can work with models and dashboards.
- Build and support predictive analytics models, dashboards, automation tools, and other data solutions for internal teams and stakeholders.
- Keep current with advances in data science, cloud technologies, and AI to continuously improve products and workflows.
- Use actuarial knowledge where relevant; familiarity with actuarial concepts is considered an advantage.
Qualifications and experience
Candidates should hold an advanced university degree, with a Master’s degree preferred, in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Actuarial Science, or a closely related discipline. The role requires 3 to 5 years of relevant experience, depending on the candidate’s profile.
