Role overview
The Service Employee Bus Washer supports the upkeep and fueling of school, activity, and commercial buses alongside the maintenance team at First Student. This position is based in Burlington, Ontario, and focuses on keeping buses ready for safe daily operation through fuel handling, fluid checks, recordkeeping, yard coordination, and light maintenance work.
Key responsibilities
- Open the yard gates, inspect parking areas, and move buses as needed so vehicles can be dispatched without delay and traffic in the yard stays clear.
- Keep fuel-related documentation accurate, including the Bulk Fuel Receiving Report, Fuel Variance Report, Month-end Closing Report, and Meter Calibration Report.
- Alert the Location Manager or another designated leader when fuel needs to be delivered, and ensure stick readings are taken correctly before and after the delivery.
- Check and top up essential bus fluids such as oil, antifreeze, power steering fluid, transmission fluid, brake fluid, windshield washer fluid, and belts for buses being serviced.
- Carry out minor interior and exterior maintenance on buses when needed.
- Complete any additional duties or instructions assigned by management.
