Associate Editor, List Development

About the Role

Forbes is looking for a detail-focused, analytically minded Associate Editor, List Development to connect data work with compelling editorial storytelling. In this position, you will help protect the accuracy of the brand’s flagship rankings, collaborate with multiple outside partners, contribute to the methodology behind the lists, and assist with video-related projects. The goal is to keep Forbes rankings authoritative and dependable.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft and manage methodology articles and related materials so they are ready for publication on schedule.
• Handle research, coordination, data entry, fact-checking, and overall quality checks for spreadsheets and datasets received from 10 to 15 data partners that support the lists.
• Act as the point of contact for the video team while they produce short explainers where editors walk through list methodologies and respond to reader, sponsor, and other business FAQs; when necessary, prepare scripts aligned with the methodologies.
• Create and update a central List Page/Archive hub on Forbes.com that links to all active and past lists, includes the Forbes list mission statement, and features the related videos.
• Write list-related articles and reports as needed.
• Contribute to the planning and creation of new lists.
• Help incorporate incoming partner data, including its structure and content.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of hands-on experience managing and manipulating data in Excel, including pivot tables and chart creation; familiarity with SQL is preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of reporting and writing business-focused feature stories.
• Experience working across departments and coordinating with multiple stakeholders to complete projects.
• Highly organized, careful with details, and comfortable working to deadlines.
• Strong communication, relationship-building, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
• Prior experience writing scripts for short informational videos is an advantage.

The annual base pay for this position is estimated at $80,000 to $85,000. This range is provided in good faith and may be adjusted over time based on business needs, the role’s requirements, education, experience, skills, and budget considerations.

This position may change as business priorities evolve, and additional responsibilities may be assigned when needed. Forbes offers flexibility in some roles, and certain positions may be based in a specific location or may be fully remote within the U.S. if that fits the role’s needs.
