About the RoleThe Credit and Fraud Risk (CFR) Analytics & Data Science Center of Excellence supports profitable growth by limiting fraud exposure and keeping credit losses among the lowest in the industry. The team uses data, analytics, digital capabilities, and constantly evolving technology to identify fraud, reduce friction for genuine customers, and improve the overall customer experience. It also contributes to smarter risk decisions, commerce enablement, and innovation.In this role, you will be part of a team that powers key business decisions across the customer journey, from selecting the right prospects to underwriting and managing post-onboarding experience. The work is deeply data-driven and has impact across financial services operations.You will have the chance to work with highly experienced analytics, data science, and machine learning leaders while solving practical business problems that affect a large customer base.What You Will DoApply economic logic and analytical methods to support profitable credit-related decisions.Study large datasets to uncover business patterns and generate actionable insights.Use the organization’s closed-loop network to make decisioning more precise and relevant.Develop improved approaches by using big data and machine learning techniques.Present business findings in a clear, structured way to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders across prospect and customer areas.Stay informed about developments in finance, payments, analytics, and related domains.What We Are Looking ForMBA, master’s degree in economics, statistics, computer science, or a related discipline.Up to 30 months of analytics experience.Strong ability to deliver assigned work and contribute to business outcomes.Comfort working effectively in collaborative team settings.Good communication and interpersonal skills.Creative problem-solving ability, quick learning mindset, and comfort working independently on complex, unstructured work.Ability to collaborate with cross-functional business partners across geographies.Additional InformationAmerican Express is built on a long history of innovation, shared values, and leadership behaviors, with a strong focus on trust, security, service, and responsible risk management.
