Job description
Position Overview
We seek a seasoned Technical Project Manager (TPM) fluent in Japanese (Level 2 proficiency) responsible for steering IT projects targeting our Japan-based clients. This role demands a unique combination of project leadership, technical acumen, and bilingual communication skills to bridge teams effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee comprehensive delivery of Japan-centric IT initiatives from inception through completion.
- Manage project planning, execution workflows, monitor progress, and mitigate risks effectively.
- Ensure alignment of deliverables with set schedules, scope definitions, and quality benchmarks.
- Provide clear project status reports and highlight risks to stakeholders timely.
- Translate a variety of technical materials including user stories, specification documents, BRDs, and SRS from Japanese to English and vice versa.
- Offer live interpretation during client engagements such as calls, demonstrations, and review sessions.
- Support Japanese-speaking stakeholders with precise and culturally appropriate communication.
Expertise and Skills
- Serve as the main liaison between Japanese clients and internal delivery teams to facilitate smooth collaboration.
- Lead requirements elicitation sessions conducted in Japanese.
- Apply sensitivity to cultural nuances and ensure clarity in messaging.
- Engage with engineering teams to discuss technical aspects, possessing foundational knowledge of SDLC, cloud technology, APIs, microservices, and agile methodologies without the necessity of hands-on coding.
- Guide backlog refinement, sprint planning, and release management activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional groups including Development, QA, Business Analysis, and DevOps teams.
- Translate defect reports, release notes, and design documentation accurately.
- Coach team members on communication styles and etiquette pertinent to the Japanese market.
