Role Overview

The HR Manager position is embedded in the Bellways Operations Department, functioning as a strategic HR Business Partner. This role focuses on aligning HR initiatives with business aims, delivering both strategic and operational HR support for departments including Customer Order Management, Production, Imports, Warehouse, and Logistics. Responsibilities encompass recruitment, workforce planning, performance management, employee relations, and talent development to ensure the team is staffed with skilled performers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted HR advisor to Operations leaders and align HR strategies with departmental and business goals.
  • Lead recruitment end-to-end, collaborate with hiring managers, and nurture a strong talent pipeline.
  • Manage onboarding processes to facilitate smooth employee integration and early engagement.
  • Implement and oversee performance management systems, address underperformance, and maintain updated performance tools.
  • Conduct skills analysis and develop training and leadership growth programs supporting succession planning.
  • Handle conflict resolution, grievances, and disciplinary processes compliant with Kenyan labor laws.
  • Cultivate a positive workplace culture, manage staff engagement initiatives, and support retention strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with Kenyan labor legislation, OSH, and employment standards; coordinate with legal counsel on HR matters.
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce HR policies, records, and documentation aligned to operational needs.
  • Support payroll accuracy, manage benefits administration, and aid in incentive program development.
  • Monitor attendance and leave for operational efficiency and maintain related reports.
  • Promote health, safety, and wellbeing, ensuring OSH compliance and fostering staff wellness programs.
  • Provide HR data analytics, reporting, and align HR strategy with operational goals for improved productivity and cost management.
  • Implement and optimize HR information systems and process automation to enhance workflow and data security.
  • Oversee office administration including management of support staff, service providers, contracts, office and vehicle maintenance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage offboarding including exit interviews and proper documentation, ensuring compliance throughout separation processes.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management or CHRP accreditation is preferred.
  • At least 5–7 years of HR experience focused on recruitment and operational support.
  • Demonstrated experience acting as an HR Business Partner in operational settings.
  • Thorough knowledge of Kenyan labor laws and HR best practices.
  • Membership in the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM).
