Fraud Officer

About the Role

HSBC is looking for an experienced Fraud Officer to join its Kolkata team. This role focuses on helping reduce fraud losses, handling customer and business enquiries related to suspicious activity, and supporting controls that protect both clients and the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Support fraud loss reduction by reviewing targeted detection alerts and helping close cases effectively.
• Handle enquiries from customers and internal business teams across assigned channels to address suspected or confirmed fraud.
• Look for opportunities to learn more about fraud operations and, with limited supervision, contribute to team support efforts.
• Follow compliance, operational risk, and regulatory requirements closely, and escalate control gaps, policy breaches, and operational loss incidents.
• Meet team expectations for productivity and quality, while keeping daily productivity records and accurate payroll entries.
• Work within procedures and regulations that safeguard customers and the business from losses and risks.

Requirements

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to influence and stay customer-focused.
• Prior experience in a voice process environment.
• Minimum educational qualification of graduation or an equivalent degree.
• Willingness to work in a 24/7 schedule based on business needs.
• Ability to meet performance and behavioural standards set by policy.
• Sound judgment and decision-making skills supported by fraud operations knowledge and work experience.
• Good reporting skills and working knowledge of MS Office.
