Job SummaryThis role is centered on leading credit underwriting for the Delhi region, ensuring proposals are assessed quickly, accurately, and in line with internal policy, legal requirements, and documentation standards. The position also involves monitoring portfolio quality, coordinating closely with sales and credit teams, and guiding a geographically distributed team across multiple business segments.Role PurposeThe main objective of this position is to manage regional credit appraisal activities end to end. The incumbent is expected to support fast credit decisions, identify and communicate credit risks, recommend appropriate mitigation actions, and maintain the bankability of exposures throughout the credit life cycle.Organizational ContextAs the lending arm of Aditya Birla Financial Services Group, the company provides lending and financing solutions across Capital Markets, Corporate and Trade Finance, Commercial Real Estate, and Mortgages. The business competes in a highly price-sensitive market and has built a strong secured-lending franchise while also expanding into unsecured lending products for businesses and individuals.Job Context and Key ChallengesThe role requires smooth handling of business and individual loan proposals across branches in the region, with close attention to due diligence, turnaround time, and coordination across functions. The work is challenging because proposals can be structurally complex, market conditions are dynamic, and credit risk, customer risk, and documentation quality must remain under constant control.Another important part of the role is staying current on industry, economic, and sector trends, while ensuring that pending documents, overdue accounts, and sticky accounts are tracked and regularized effectively.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the review and underwriting of regional credit proposals and ensure timely decisions within defined authority limits.Work with local credit analysts and sales teams to improve turnaround time for lending decisions.Assess borrower strength using financial statements, income tax returns, cash flows, repayment behavior, bank balances, market credibility, and other internal norms.Carry out direct customer interaction and external market checks to support complete and reliable credit evaluation.Identify credit and customer risks, propose mitigation actions, and ensure compliance with legal, policy, and documentation requirements.Approve proposals at the regional level where permitted and escalate larger or higher-level cases to NRM, Credit Committee, Zonal Credit Manager, or other approving authorities as needed.Prepare and submit Credit Appraisal Memos with clear risk observations to support sound lending decisions.Ensure sanction letters are issued correctly and deviations are documented properly to avoid revenue leakage.Coordinate execution of documents from relationship managers and hand over complete documentation to operations for disbursement.Track covenants, sanction conditions, overdue accounts, and post-disbursement issues throughout the credit life cycle.Maintain strong documentation practices and monitor proposal status and TATs closely.Prepare MIS, trend charts, portfolio updates, default reports, and regional risk presentations for stakeholders.Support recovery efforts by tracking overdue exposures and working with the team on follow-up actions.Resolve customer escalations and complaints during and after disbursement where required.Guide, coach, and develop credit analysts across locations to maintain quality, process discipline, and service timelines.Conduct or arrange training for local credit teams and sales teams on products, processes, legal aspects, and technical requirements.Drive process improvement initiatives to strengthen credit quality, customer satisfaction, and risk control.DimensionsThe role covers regional management of credit workflows, lending approval activity, SOP compliance, and portfolio quality monitoring. Key performance indicators include loan approval limits, process adherence, and NPA percentage.Skills and Enabling CompetenciesThe role calls for strong analytical judgement, careful attention to detail, sound decision-making, initiative, target focus, market awareness, and team leadership capability.Education and ExperienceThe preferred background is Chartered Accountant or MBA, along with 4 to 7 years of experience in credit and risk functions within banks or NBFCs.Key Result AreasMaintain strong credit underwriting standards while keeping regional proposal flow efficient and responsive.Ensure complete and accurate documentation, reporting, and monitoring throughout the proposal and loan lifecycle.Support process discipline, compliance, and coordination across credit, sales, operations, and other stakeholders.Build team capability through coaching, training, and active performance management.Additional InformationThis role requires regular coordination across business locations and teams serving different segments. The team must remain updated on industry conditions and manage proposals that may involve varied customer profiles, product structures, and regulatory considerations.
