About the Role

Buttcon is looking for a motivated and detail-focused Web Development Student to join its team on a temporary full-time contract for at least 3 months, with potential for extension. The role supports the launch and continued growth of the company’s new corporate website.

You will work with the marketing team on front-end development, content integration, visual improvements, testing, and optimization to help create a polished, intuitive web experience. This is well suited to a student in Web Development, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Interactive Media, or a related program who wants practical experience on a large website initiative.

Responsibilities

• Help build, maintain, and launch the company’s upgraded website.
• Create and refresh web pages using WordPress and the Divi theme builder.
• Develop responsive front-end elements with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React.
• Contribute to visual refinements, page structure, and better user experience.
• Work with internal teams to add website copy, images, forms, and other digital materials.
• Test the site, troubleshoot issues, and carry out quality checks across browsers and devices.
• Spot and fix front-end defects and performance concerns.
• Assist with optimization efforts such as faster load times and accessibility improvements.
• Continue supporting updates and enhancements after launch.
• Record development work and share suggestions for ongoing improvements.

Requirements

• Current enrollment in a post-secondary program in Web Development, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Digital Media, or a similar field; recent graduates seeking a short-term opportunity may also be considered.
• Prior experience working on WordPress websites.
• Hands-on experience with the Divi theme builder.
• Strong working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Experience with React and current front-end development practices.
• Understanding of responsive web design principles.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
• Capability to handle several priorities and work to deadlines.

Additional Information

Compensation: The hiring rate is CAD $20.00 to $24.00 per hour, with the final offer determined by the candidate’s skills, experience, education, and qualifications.
