Site Supervisor

Role overview

The Site Supervisor will be responsible for managing everyday construction activities at the project location. The role focuses on keeping work on schedule, maintaining safe working conditions, and making sure all tasks align with approved drawings, plans, and specifications.

Core responsibilities

This position involves overseeing site operations, coordinating labor, checking quality, handling materials, and keeping communication flowing between the project team and external parties.

• Direct day-to-day construction work and confirm that activities follow the project plan.
• Arrange work shifts, task allocation, and on-site coordination for construction staff.
• Apply safety rules and site procedures to support a secure work environment.
• Carry out routine safety checks and flag any unsafe conditions or hazards.
• Track workmanship and verify that output matches project standards and specifications.
• Identify quality concerns early and take action to resolve them quickly.
• Supervise material usage, equipment handling, and on-site inventory control.
• Ensure supplies are used efficiently and stored in an organized manner.
• Act as the main contact for the project manager and subcontracting teams.
• Share timely progress updates, site concerns, and resource requirements.
• Troubleshoot operational issues that arise during construction activities.
• Work with project managers and team members to implement practical solutions.

Working relationships

The role requires close coordination with multiple stakeholders on and off site.

• Project Manager: submit daily updates on site performance and progress.
• Construction Workers: provide direct supervision, direction, and support.
• Foremen: align on job assignments and overall site coordination.
• Subcontractors: synchronize work activities with project objectives.
• Suppliers: manage deliveries, stock movement, and material availability.
• Inspectors: coordinate during site inspections and regulatory visits.

Qualifications and skills

Applicants should have at least a high school diploma or an equivalent qualification. A degree in construction management or a similar field is preferred. Candidates are expected to bring 3 to 5 years of experience in construction supervision or a comparable role. OSHA certification or another relevant safety training credential is also required. Strong leadership, clear communication, the ability to read blueprints and technical drawings, and familiarity with construction management software are important for success in this position.
