Role overview
The Project Engineer will support the Package Lead and the wider Project Management team in handling project administration and construction supervision across the everyday activities of a major project in Doha. The role focuses on site oversight, review of contractor submissions, quality control, and assurance activities throughout execution.
What you will do
- Assist with administration and supervision of project and construction activities on site.
- Review, assess, and help approve contractor submittals and shop drawings.
- Carry out daily site inspections to verify workmanship, compliance, and quality.
- Monitor construction activities continuously against applicable codes, standards, specifications, contract drawings, and approved shop drawings.
- Record non-conformances and contribute to identifying suitable corrective actions.
- Oversee construction works to ensure installation activities meet contractual and quality requirements.
- Coordinate closely with contractor construction teams and quality assurance / quality control staff.
- Ensure project quality procedures are followed and suggest improvements where needed.
- Process work inspection requests and material inspection requests on a daily basis.
- Support review of construction submittals, shop drawings, method statements, as-built drawings, operation and maintenance manuals, spare parts lists, and related close-out documents through the defects liability period.
- Work with project and construction teams to identify and reduce safety and environmental risks affecting personnel, stakeholders, or the site.
- Interpret discipline drawings and specifications to confirm current revisions and correct technical execution.
- Help resolve technical engineering issues within the assigned discipline and coordinate solutions to maintain site progress.
- Witness quality control tests as required.
- Witness testing and commissioning activities.
- Track physical progress and report updates to the Package Lead, Planning Lead, and Quantity Surveyor.
- Compile discipline data for final turnover documentation and reporting.
- Maintain records, back-charge documentation, progress reports, and other required project records.
- Provide comments and status updates on inspection requests and coordinate timely release of responses to contractors.
- Meet internal KPI targets for timely site inspections and inspection comment turnaround.
- Perform other duties associated with the role as needed.
What you need
- A relevant engineering degree of at least four years' duration, or longer, in Civil, Structural, Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering for ELV systems.
- 10 to 12 years of postgraduate professional experience.
- At least 5 years of work experience in GCC countries.
- MME registration in Qatar is preferred.
