Qatar Fabrication Company (QFAB) is hiring a Production Engineer - Structural for its Ras Laffan, Qatar location. The role is reporting functionally to the Operation Engineering Manager and operationally to the Fabrication Operations Engineer.

Role Summary

This position supports structural fabrication planning and execution, with responsibility for production coordination, fabrication deliverables, work pack preparation, progress monitoring, and interface management across engineering, marine, subcontracting, warehouse, drafting, and construction support teams.

Discipline-Specific Responsibilities

• Prepare fabrication procedures for assigned projects.
• Raise requests for procurement of fabrication aids and related materials.
• Issue RFQs for subcontracted scope as required.
• Examine engineering drawings to confirm buildability and practical execution.
• Create assembly checklists for key construction and fabrication milestones.
• Lead WCR reviews and confirm WT before lifting, loadout, and weighing activities.
• Coordinate all preparations related to loadout and weighing operations.
• Work with the Marine team and Fabrication team on installation aids, sea fastening, and offshore lift rigging.
• Liaise with the CSE Department and the Marine Warranty Surveyor as needed.
• Publish the CSE deliverables list with target dates and chair CSE coordination meetings.
• Provide input on yard layout, including stacking arrangements and loadout dates.

General Responsibilities

• Understand the full contractual scope, contract structure, and project milestone schedule.
• Contribute to the development of the fabrication execution plan to deliver the contract efficiently.
• Build and maintain a work pack index, including priority setting and ROS dates for deliverables.
• Prepare project-specific task lists.
• Take part in the fabrication kick-off meeting at project start.
• Forecast fabrication deliverable needs to support the contract schedule.
• Coordinate with MTO, warehouse, and drafting teams to release work packs.
• Review manhour estimates, validate accuracy, and share feedback with the estimation team when needed.
• Issue work packs and track their execution through completion.
• Prepare progress reports for the project.
• Review weekly fabrication progress reports to assess productivity and progress, and act on any deviations.
• Document changes in scope and coordinate AFC estimate updates.
• Review forecast dates for materials and drawings and assess their impact on the fabrication schedule.
• Inform the Senior Production Engineer or Fabrication Operations Engineer of issues affecting progress, productivity, or schedule commitments.
• Prepare technical queries and project correspondence for submission to the client.
• Offer field support to ensure project specifications, timelines, and targets are met.
• Attend regular site and look-ahead meetings and provide practical feedback.
• Coordinate with subcontractors to close out assigned work.
• Raise variance orders for additional work not covered in AFC estimates.
• Identify construction engineering support requirements and follow up until the necessary input is received.
• Prepare lessons learned documentation for fabrication activities.

Qualifications and Experience

A Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical, Structural Engineering, or an equivalent discipline is required. Candidates should have more than 4 years of experience in the offshore and petrochemical industry or a similar environment, and prior experience as an engineer on construction project execution is preferred.
