Role overview
General Index (GX) is hiring a Pricing Analyst in Singapore for a full-time, office-based role. The position is focused on building expertise in commodity trading and price assessment, while helping the team produce published prices and benchmarks in line with internal methodology.
About GX
GX provides commodity price data designed for modern market use. Its spot prices and forward curves are generated algorithmically from thousands of daily trades gathered through more than 240 data partners, using clear, consistent and compliant methodologies. The company publishes over 5,200 daily prices across crude oil, refined products, natural gas and energy transition markets, and serves users such as Bloomberg, BP, ExxonMobil, TotalEnergies, Two Sigma, BASF, Rio Tinto, Wood Mackenzie and ADNOC.
What the role involves
- Carry out daily assessments for assigned commodity markets, checking the quality of the source data and making sure the correct methodology is used when producing published indexes.
- Keep track of market movements that may affect pricing or require changes to the methodology for the assigned markets.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with traders, brokers and other relevant market participants.
- Investigate key market trends that influence prices using internal data, analytics tools and direct market contact.
- Source additional data to support existing GX indexes and future index development.
- Work with the commercial team to promote GX data in the market and support wider adoption.
- Collaborate across teams to spot opportunities for new indexes or improvements to current products.
- Contribute ideas that help guide the evolution of GX’s product portfolio.
- Build AI into day-to-day work processes to improve efficiency.
What GX is looking for
- A BA/BS degree is required, preferably in a subject that emphasizes logic and analytical thinking.
- Ability to source data and build relationships with data providers.
- A practical, inquisitive, and solution-focused mindset with strong numerical skills and solid Microsoft Excel ability.
- High accuracy and excellent attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, with the confidence to explain and present topics clearly.
- Genuine interest in commodities and a strong desire to learn how pricing works.
- Professional conduct when working with colleagues, customers, data providers and the public.
- Willingness to understand and reflect GX’s core values.
