To strengthen its cybersecurity and information security function, the team is looking for an experienced Information Security Engineer who can help safeguard space and ground assets, contribute to security compliance, and support the creation of next-generation protective solutions for the space industry.

Information security and cybersecurity responsibilities

• Create security concepts and architecture designs for projects involving space and ground-segment systems.
• Set up both technical and organizational safeguards to protect systems and data.
• Make sure work aligns with customer, regulatory, and project-specific security obligations.
• Guide software, systems, and infrastructure teams on cybersecurity matters.

Security operations and engineering

• Carry out security reviews and assess cybersecurity controls in project environments.
• Spot weaknesses and propose practical remediation steps.
• Help harden and securely configure Linux and Windows environments.
• Support logging, monitoring, and security automation work using tools such as Ansible, PowerShell, and Python.
• Plan, coordinate, and deliver information security activities across the project lifecycle.

Research and innovation

• Contribute to the design of advanced cybersecurity solutions for space systems.
• Take part in research and innovation initiatives focused on emerging technologies such as secure communications, advanced cryptography, and resilient infrastructure design.

Required background

• A degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Engineering, or a similar discipline; equivalent professional experience is also acceptable.
• Hands-on experience in cybersecurity, information security, or security engineering.
• Working familiarity with security standards and frameworks such as ISO 27001 and BSI IT-Grundschutz.
• Practical experience with Linux and/or Windows administration.
• Exposure to scripting, automation, or infrastructure security is a strong plus.
• Good analytical thinking, documentation ability, and problem-solving skills.
• Comfort working in multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Interest in a highly regulated, mission-critical aerospace environment.

Additional information

This role is based in Bremen, Bremen, Germany and is intended for an onsite full-time arrangement with a hybrid 40/60 home office split.
