Housekeeper

Role overview

This position supports the hotel’s housekeeping operation by keeping guest rooms, shared areas, and assigned spaces clean, organized, and inviting. The role is central to creating a comfortable stay and helping deliver a high level of guest satisfaction.

Key duties

• Prepare guest rooms to standard by dusting, vacuuming, changing linens, and making beds.
• Clean and disinfect bathrooms, including fixtures, surfaces, and amenities.
• Wipe furniture, surfaces, and decorative items in rooms and public areas.
• Replenish guest room supplies such as towels, toiletries, and linens.
• Remove waste from guest rooms and common areas and replace bin liners.
• Maintain floors by sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming in rooms, corridors, and public spaces.
• Flag maintenance or repair concerns and pass them on to the proper team.
• Watch for misplaced items in rooms or public areas and report them to supervision.
• Speak with guests politely and handle questions or requests in a professional manner.
• Follow privacy, security, and housekeeping procedures at all times.

Skills and abilities

• Prior housekeeping or similar experience is considered an advantage.
• Strong focus on detail and solid understanding of cleaning methods, chemicals, and equipment.
• Ability to work on your own, stay organized, and complete assigned rooms and cart setup efficiently.
• Clear communication skills for dealing with guests and coworkers.
• Basic knowledge of sanitation and safety practices.
• Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays when required.

Working conditions

This is a physically active role that involves extended standing and walking, as well as climbing, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Work may take place indoors in a hotel setting and can involve exposure to temperature extremes, cleaning chemicals, dirt, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and loud noise. Safety rules and any required protective equipment must be followed.
