Where you'll work
직무 설명
About the role
Diocesan School for Girls is seeking a dependable and hands-on Groundskeeper to support the upkeep of its Epsom campus in Auckland. This permanent part-time position sits within the Grounds team and reports to the Grounds Manager.
The school is guided by a clear purpose: helping young women grow into confident, resilient people who are prepared for a changing world. This role plays an important part in that mission by ensuring the campus remains attractive, safe, and well cared for for students, staff, and the wider community.
You will be working outdoors in a role that is physically active and varied, with the satisfaction of seeing immediate results from your work.
Key duties
- Maintain lawns, gardens, landscaped areas, sports fields, courts, and artificial turf to a high standard.
- Carry out mowing, fertilising, spraying, drainage work, cultivation, and hedge trimming.
- Manage leaf litter, rubbish, and recycling stations on a daily basis to keep the grounds tidy.
- Set up and look after outdoor spaces for school events, functions, campus tours, and Open Days.
- Keep pathways, evacuation routes, drains, and outdoor access areas clear and safe.
- Use and care for grounds equipment such as mowers, trimmers, leaf blowers, and tractors.
- Support the wider Grounds and Property teams during busy seasons and major events.
Experience and skills needed
The ideal candidate will have around one year of grounds experience and a basic understanding of mowing, turf care, and general outdoor maintenance. However, the school is also open to applicants with the right attitude, a willingness to learn, and the physical ability to handle outdoor work.
Training will be provided on the job within the gardening team. Any prior study or coursework in turf management would be an advantage.
You should be detail-oriented, able to solve problems as they arise, and comfortable working on your own while managing priorities. Strong communication skills, a customer-focused approach, and a willingness to help others are important. A current full, clean driver's licence is required.
This position involves some higher-risk tasks, including handling chemicals for mixing and spraying, operating tractors and equipment with sharp blades, and using ladders for work at height. Appropriate safety training and protective equipment will be supplied.
What the school offers
- A supportive workplace where staff are encouraged to grow both professionally and personally.
- Competitive pay.
- Ongoing learning, development, and growth opportunities.
- Access to an onsite fitness centre, swimming pool, and physiotherapy services.
- Free covered parking when available for cars, bikes, and scooters.
- Regular wellness activities and social events.
- A welcoming community set among beautifully maintained school grounds.
