About the Role

Trench Town Polytechnic College (TTPC), recognized as Jamaica’s first polytechnic institution, is looking for a dependable, safety-focused, and service-minded Driver (GMG/LMO 1) to help run its transport services in Kingston, Jamaica.

This position is centered on operating the College bus and any other vehicle assigned, with a strong emphasis on safe driving, punctual transportation, and professional conduct while moving students, staff, visitors, equipment, and supplies.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate the College bus and any other assigned vehicle safely and in line with the Road Traffic Act and internal policies.
• Move students, employees, and authorized passengers to approved locations as needed.
• Handle transportation of furniture, equipment, supplies, and other College property when required.
• Carry out daily checks before and after trips, and report any faults, wear, or service concerns without delay.
• Keep the vehicle clean, properly fueled, and supported by up-to-date service documentation.
• Follow traffic laws, safety requirements, and defensive driving standards at all times.
• Accurately maintain logbooks, mileage details, and other transport-related records.
• Provide transport support for College events, outreach efforts, recruitment activities, and similar institutional functions.
• Deal with students, staff, visitors, and outside stakeholders in a discreet and professional manner.
• Carry out any other transport duties assigned by the College.

Qualifications and Experience

• Must hold a valid Jamaican General Driver’s Licence with the correct endorsement for bus operation.
• At least five years of professional driving background, including experience with passenger buses or similar commercial vehicles.
• A clean driving history with no major traffic offenses.
• Good knowledge of the Road Traffic Act, road safety rules, and defensive driving methods.
• Ability to perform basic vehicle inspections and recognize mechanical problems.
• Strong people skills, dependability, punctuality, and a service-oriented attitude.
