Role Overview

This full-time, on-site Cashier position is based in Harare. The person in this role will greet customers, accurately record orders, and process sales through the point-of-sale system. The job includes managing cash as well as electronic payments, issuing receipts, and checking that the cash float is correct at both the start and end of each shift. The Cashier will also respond to simple questions about the menu, offers, and pricing, while working closely with kitchen and service teams so orders move through quickly. In addition, the role requires keeping the front counter and customer-facing areas tidy, following cash control and safety rules, and assisting colleagues during peak hours.

Responsibilities

• Welcome guests and take their orders in a polite and efficient manner.
• Enter transactions accurately into the POS system.
• Accept cash, card, and mobile payments and provide receipts.
• Reconcile the cash drawer at the start and end of each shift.
• Answer basic customer queries about menu items, promotions, and prices.
• Coordinate with kitchen and service staff to help ensure quick order processing.
• Keep the front counter and customer areas clean and well organized.
• Follow cash handling, safety, and hygiene procedures carefully.
• Support the team during busy service periods.

Requirements

• Ability to process cash, card, and mobile payments and balance a cash drawer accurately.
• Good customer service skills with clear communication, patience, and a professional, friendly manner.
• Comfort using POS systems and basic digital devices, with a willingness to pick up new tools quickly.
• Capacity to work well in a fast-moving, team-based environment, including evenings, weekends, and holidays when needed.
• Basic numerical ability, close attention to detail, and dependable adherence to procedures and health and safety guidelines.
• Prior experience in retail, hospitality, or food service is helpful but not mandatory.
• High school diploma or an equivalent qualification is preferred.
