Cable Technician

Role overview

The Cable Technician supports maintenance-base operations by making sure equipment is delivered on schedule to meet operational needs. This position is also focused on lowering maintenance-related nonproductive time, improving asset reliability, and boosting efficiency and productivity within the maintenance team.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out wireline cable maintenance and spooling work, including duties that involve mechanical lifting.
• Keep assigned equipment maintained in line with the approved maintenance plan, reliability-centered maintenance approach, computerized maintenance system, and standard operating procedures.
• Use Technology Lifecycle Management systems carefully to log materials, supplies, labor, equipment history, movements, work orders, parts consumption, and maintenance time.
• Follow all TLM product-line standards and operating requirements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement programs aimed at better asset usage and lower cost of service delivery.
• Support efforts to reduce turnaround time for equipment by minimizing downtime, repair delays, authorization issues, failures, and work-in-progress bottlenecks.
• Help improve maintenance technician efficiency and overall team productivity.
• Assist in cost-of-service initiatives such as planned repair and reuse of components.
• Take part in failure analysis and investigation activities when assigned.
• Work in line with the TLM Competency Management System.

Experience and background

The role calls for 5 to 10 years of experience and a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. Prior exposure to oil and gas wireline maintenance or field operations is preferred.
