Baker

Role overview

COBS Bread is looking for a Baker to help uphold its commitment to fresh product and a welcoming bakery experience. This position suits someone with a positive attitude, curiosity, and a willingness to learn. Prior baking experience is not required.

In this role, you will begin your shift with an empty bakery and finish with freshly baked artisan bread and treats ready for the community. The company values teamwork, community connection, personal growth, and having fun while making an impact.

Daily work

• Support a small team in preparing and baking each morning by following established recipes closely.
• Contribute to keeping the bakery clean and to delivering a positive experience for customers.
• Read production schedules and recipes, measure and combine ingredients, shape and mould dough, and manage products through the ovens.

Requirements

• Be comfortable arriving early and working either independently or with a small team.
• Take pride in the bakery’s contribution to the local community.
• Bring a strong work ethic, a positive mindset, and solid organizational ability.
• Be committed to supporting team success, bakery performance, and your own development.

Physical demands

• Work involves standing and walking continuously throughout tasks.
• Frequent lifting and carrying of up to 22 kg is required.
• Regular turning and reaching are part of the job.
• Occasional pushing, pulling, and forward bending may be needed.
• You must be able to lift at least 2.5 kg to a height of 1.7 meters.
• The role requires constant use of both hands, frequent wrist rotation and flexing, and occasional forceful gripping.
