Role overview
This position supports the Finance Controller in maintaining accurate financial records, assessing profitability, controlling costs, and improving performance across retail stores and wider business operations. The role combines reporting, analysis, budgeting, compliance support, and decision support through data-backed insights.
Key responsibilities
- Compile monthly profit and loss statements for brand, region, and store level, and explain the differences against budget.
- Support timely month-end and year-end closing while following accounting policies and controls.
- Build annual budgets and monthly forecasts in collaboration with retail operations, merchandising, and marketing teams.
- Monitor sales performance, gross margins, and store-level profitability.
- Prepare monthly management dashboards covering sales movement, expense variances, and key profitability indicators.
- Review rent-to-sales ratio, manpower spend, and other important retail operating metrics.
- Serve as a finance partner to retail operations and provide insights that support business decisions.
- Assess proposals for new stores, including ROCE and payback calculations.
- Support analysis of marketing spend and measure return on investment for campaigns and promotions.
- Guide business teams on pricing decisions, discount strategy, and margin improvement opportunities.
- Track controllable costs such as rent, utilities, staffing, and marketing expenses.
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs across stores and head office functions.
- Contribute to process simplification and better SAP efficiency.
