Yard Coordinator (Pinkenba)

Role overview

The Yard Coordinator supports the branch by handling incoming vehicle inspections and keeping the yard organized and auction-ready. The role covers check-in documentation, digital photo capture, cleaning and preserving vehicles, preparing auction units, and helping customers and visitors with their needs.

Key duties

• Register arriving vehicles by capturing and filing the required intake details at the branch.
• Clean and detail vehicles so they present well and can achieve stronger auction value.
• Move passenger vehicles safely within the facility and assist with drive-through auction activity.
• Apply auction numbers and prepare vehicles for weekly or biweekly sales.
• Collect and store keys, licence plates, and other vehicle-related items in the correct branch locations.
• Guide visitors and direct them to the right person when they need further help.
• Carry out basic forklift or loader tasks where needed.
• Follow company policies, procedures, and site rules at all times.
• Read and follow safety, maintenance, and procedural documents, while observing environmental and workplace safety requirements.
• Stay alert to risks linked to heavy equipment and vehicle movement in the work area.
• Work toward daily, weekly, and monthly performance targets.
• Be open to learning forklift operation, which may not be required at every location.
• Interact professionally and supportively with customers and tow operators.
• Assist with minor vehicle maintenance tasks when required.
• Complete tasks that involve bending, stooping, standing, and walking for extended periods.
• Work comfortably in different weather conditions and on a variety of indoor and outdoor surfaces.
• Use general knowledge of vehicle makes and models to support the role.
• Work effectively with the team and contribute to day-to-day operations.
• Hold a valid driver’s licence and be able to operate vehicles, where required by the facility.
• Use security, maintenance, and safety practices to protect company and customer property.
• Wear and use personal protective equipment such as safety gloves and safety glasses correctly.
• Identify unsafe situations early and respond appropriately to prevent accidents.
• Follow industry rules for handling hazardous materials.
• Take direction and remain flexible to carry out other duties as assigned, as business needs change.

Requirements and qualifications

• 2 to 3 years of relevant experience.
• Prior exposure to equipment rental, construction, or a related environment is preferred.
• Experience using a forklift is an advantage.
• Basic automotive repair ability.
• Comfortable using a handheld PDA device.
• Willingness to learn forklift operation.
• Strong customer-facing communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to assist with light vehicle maintenance.
• Physical capability to bend, stoop, stand, and walk for reasonable periods.
• Good working knowledge of vehicle makes and models.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Prepared to work indoors and outdoors throughout the year and climb on and off large equipment and trucks.
