About Teamshares
Teamshares is a technology-driven acquirer focused on acquiring established, high-quality businesses and serving as a lasting owner for them. The company blends holding company and fintech capabilities, programmatically purchasing businesses with EBITDA between $0.5 million and $5 million from owners who are retiring. It then brings those businesses onto the Teamshares platform and helps employees build ownership through company stock. Established in 2019, Teamshares’ subsidiaries generate more than $400 million in consolidated revenue across 40+ industries and 30 states.
Role Overview
Teamshares is hiring a Transaction Associate to work within the Transactions team. This role sits at the front end of the deal process and focuses on proactive outreach, discovery conversations with sellers and M&A advisors, deal screening, and historical financial underwriting of opportunities.
In addition to assessing inbound opportunities, the person in this position will help expand the deal pipeline by building relationships with lower middle market bankers, business brokers, and professional advisors who source acquisition opportunities. The role also includes structured outreach to keep Teamshares visible when a qualifying business enters the market.
The successful candidate will work alongside senior transaction team members, who will lead opportunities through LOI and closing. This is a fast-moving, high-exposure role suited to someone with strong analytical ability, excellent communication skills, and a genuine interest in the small and medium business landscape.
Business Development and Deal Origination
- Develop and manage day-to-day relationships with investment bankers, business brokers, CPAs, attorneys, and other advisors who refer acquisition opportunities.
- Use the CRM as the main record of truth by promptly entering interactions, updating relationship tiers, and keeping follow-up information accurate.
- Monitor and report business development performance through dashboards and metrics such as new contacts added, outreach volume, and the number of opportunities intermediaries submit for review.
Deal Qualification and Underwriting
- Assess incoming acquisition opportunities against Teamshares’ investment criteria by completing operational and financial screening and deciding where each lead should sit in the funnel.
- Review historical financial performance and earnings quality by normalizing owner compensation, one-time expenses, and other non-recurring adjustments using seller-provided financial statements and tax returns.
- Run early-stage discovery calls with sellers and brokers to judge fit and gather initial financial details, with senior team members joining as opportunities progress.
- Create deal summaries, screening memoranda, and financial workbooks to support investment committee review and LOI preparation by senior colleagues.
- Communicate findings clearly across the transaction team and C-suite, highlighting major risks, upside, and unresolved items.
- Assist with Indications of Interest and Letters of Intent under the direction of senior transaction team members and legal partners.
