Role summary
Egis is looking for a meticulous and analytical Structural Inspector to join its supervision team in Abu Dhabi. The position is focused on verifying that all structural works are executed in line with approved IFC drawings, shop drawings, method statements, and applicable UAE authority regulations. Success in this role depends on close attention to detail, sound judgment, and open communication to help maintain quality and safety standards throughout the project.
Key responsibilities
The role involves daily monitoring of structural activities on site, confirming that contractor work complies with approved drawings, specifications, and method statements. You will check that construction methods align with UAE authority rules and recognised international standards, and you will flag any deviations through Site Observation Reports and Non-Conformance Reports when necessary.
You will review inspections for concrete works, reinforcement, formwork, structural steel, foundations, waterproofing interfaces, and other structural components. The role also requires working with engineers, architects, and other specialists to resolve site issues and ensure corrective actions meet project expectations.
In addition, you will confirm that the contractor keeps accurate records for testing and quality control, including cube tests, FDT, plate load tests, and calibration certificates. You will ensure compliance with approved method statements, ITPs, and QA/QC procedures, guide contractors on structural issues, and maintain well-organised inspection logs supported by photographs, remarks, and compliance notes. Health and safety requirements must be followed at all times during inspections.
Requirements
Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and bring at least 8 years of structural site inspection experience in the UAE construction sector, with consultant experience considered an advantage. A strong grasp of structural materials, workmanship, common defects, and deterioration patterns is essential, along with solid knowledge of UAE building codes, authority requirements, and relevant international standards.
The ideal candidate will be able to read IFC drawings, shop drawings, specifications, ITPs, and method statements accurately, and should be comfortable using inspection tools, coordinating site testing, and handling documentation. Strong analytical ability, excellent attention to detail, and the capability to identify and report non-conformities are required, as well as strong technical report writing skills and familiarity with digital inspection or QA/QC systems.
Fluency in English, both spoken and written, is necessary. A valid UAE driving licence is required, along with the ability to travel between project sites. The role may require working in constrained or elevated areas, so physical capability for site access is important. Candidates must also show a strong commitment to safety, professional ethics, quality standards, and collaboration in multicultural teams while adapting to changing site conditions and weather.
Preferred experience and additional requirements
Additional advantages include holding safety certifications such as OSHA, NEBOSH, or an equivalent qualification, previous responsibility for NCRs and SORs, and experience with inspection software and digital documentation tools. Knowledge of concrete testing procedures such as cube tests, FDT, and plate load tests is also desirable, as is experience with steel structure inspection, photography for site records, Arabic language ability, and immediate availability to begin work.
