Role overview
This position is with a locally owned and operated pharmacy store that serves the community through health, beauty, and convenience services. The pharmacist is responsible for overseeing pharmacy operations while on shift, supporting customers and healthcare professionals, delivering professional pharmacy services, dispensing medications, and helping maintain an organized and compliant dispensary.
Core duties
- Welcome and assist every customer who comes to the pharmacy.
- Work in line with all federal, provincial, regulatory, and legal obligations.
- Protect customer privacy and follow all confidentiality and consent rules.
- Provide advice on prescriptions and over-the-counter or behind-the-counter products.
- Deliver professional services to the fullest extent allowed by your scope and capability.
- Remain clearly identifiable to the public as the pharmacist on duty.
- Check that every prescription is accurate and appropriate before dispensing.
- Coordinate with other healthcare professionals as part of the customer’s circle of care.
- Keep all required records in accordance with legislation, practice standards, and company policy.
Workflow, inventory, and controlled substances
- Manage access to the dispensary to protect inventory and patient confidentiality.
- Review workflow queues every day and keep them up to date.
- Regularly inspect will-call bins according to standard operating procedures.
- Monitor stock for expired items and remove them as needed.
- Oversee stock levels and medication orders from the wholesaler.
- Meet all documentation and control requirements for substances governed by the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and related regulations, including reporting to Health Canada and other regulators.
Store operations
- Keep pickup, counselling, waiting, and workstation areas presentable and aligned with pharmacy standards.
- Participate in financial reporting activities where required.
- Review and act on internal store communications through the in-store web system.
- Prepare incident reports when medication, privacy, customer, or staff issues occur.

Compensation
The hiring rate for this position is $48.90 to $63.25 per hour. Pay may vary depending on a candidate’s experience, knowledge, and the geographic region where the job is located.
