About the Team
Wealthfront Mortgage Operations is focused on making mortgage lending faster, more efficient, and easier for clients. The team relies heavily on automation, critical thinking, and close collaboration with engineering and product partners to create a streamlined, technology-driven lending journey.
- The team automates mortgage origination and works with engineers and product leaders to replace manual work with self-service systems.
- It is built around solving problems at a systems level rather than simply following standard procedures.
- Team members are expected to understand the purpose behind each step and to look for ways to improve logic, design, and operational flow.
- The group works as one integrated unit with end-to-end visibility across the loan origination process, avoiding traditional silos.
- The hiring process includes an introductory conversation with recruiting, a 15 to 20 minute take-home assignment, meetings with mortgage operations leaders, and a cross-functional final round.

- Manage day-to-day priorities so clients receive a smooth and responsive experience.
- Oversee a full pipeline of assigned loans from signed disclosures through closing.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with clients throughout the process.
- Work with third-party vendors to complete and close loan applications.
- Ensure files comply with investor requirements and regulatory standards.
- Keep the loan pipeline, tasks, and objectives actively up to date.
- Demonstrate company values through day-to-day decisions, collaboration, and interpersonal conduct.
- Help create a positive workplace culture grounded in accountability, diversity, inclusion, flexibility, learning, collaboration, creativity, and fun.
Experience and Expertise
- Strong client-service orientation with a business-minded, team-first approach.
- Good working knowledge of federal and state rules, including TRID and HMDA.
- Solid understanding of mortgage loan products and underwriting standards.
- Ability to work both independently and with cross-functional partners.
- Strong organizational discipline and the ability to meet deadlines in a high-volume setting.
- Comfort communicating persuasively and effectively across different levels of the organization.
- Curiosity about using technology to improve operational processes.
- Background in retail mortgage loan processing.
- Strong internal and external communication skills.
- Willingness to adapt as mortgage industry practices evolve.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of mortgage processing experience in a retail setting.
- Active Mortgage Loan Originator License.
- Familiarity with Conventional Conforming and Jumbo loan guidelines.
- Experience working in the non-delegated space.
- Understanding of both state and federal lending regulations.
- Strong customer service skills and sound interpersonal practices.
