Role overview
As a Maintenance Assistant at Hilton in Taupo, Waikato, you will help keep hotel systems and facilities running smoothly while supporting the Engineering team with a range of maintenance tasks. Your work will contribute directly to guest comfort and the overall hospitality experience.
What you'll do
- Carry out general maintenance work assigned by your supervisor and assist the Engineering team with additional repair and upkeep tasks.
- Follow company rules, management directions, and safety requirements to ensure equipment is used carefully and correctly.
- Keep the hotel’s power, water, gas, heating, and cooling systems operating as expected.
- Complete inspection logs and shift handover records accurately and on time.
- Inspect, service, and maintain equipment and facilities within your area of responsibility.
- Support energy-saving efforts by helping control and reduce utility consumption.
- Monitor maintenance work connected to banquets and meetings so that all relevant equipment is functioning properly.
- Test the generator regularly so it is ready to supply power during outages.
- Oversee fire prevention work and act when unsafe or non-compliant practices are observed.
- Guide and train technicians and apprentices to help build their capability.
- Manage tools and equipment usage records, including registering team members when tools are issued.
- Recommend disciplinary action when required for team members under your supervision.
What we're looking for
- Understanding of how major data centre infrastructure operates, including power supply, air conditioning, fire systems, security, monitoring, and networking.
- Willingness to work long-term monitoring shifts, including both day and night shifts, with sufficient time available for study.
- Strong responsibility, teamwork, professionalism, and a willingness to learn.
- A proactive approach to work and a strong service mindset.
- Good analytical thinking and problem-solving ability, with the capacity to work independently.
