Hire Controller

Role overview

Speedy is a major UK hire specialist, offering a broad selection of tools, specialist equipment, plant and support services for every type of job. This role sits at the Bristol depot and is a key front-line position in sales and customer service.

As a Hire Controller, you will manage the hire journey from the initial order right through to delivery and collection. The role depends heavily on strong relationships and close coordination with different depot teams so that customer needs are met efficiently and service levels remain high.

Day to day, the job is largely desk-based and involves regular contact with stock colleagues, drivers and engineers to reduce delays and make sure the right equipment is available when needed.

Working pattern

Location: Bristol, England, United Kingdom.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 07:30 to 17:00, totalling 42 hours per week.

What you will be responsible for

• Handling hire orders from the first request through to delivery and collection.
• Working closely with depot departments to keep the customer experience smooth and efficient.
• Maintaining regular communication with stock teams, drivers and engineers.
• Minimising delays by ensuring equipment is available and processes are coordinated properly.
• Supporting sales and customer service activity from the depot front line.
• Contributing to the business unit’s ESG strategy, known as Decade to Deliver.

What you need to succeed

• Good organisational ability.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills.
• Flexibility and the ability to adapt quickly.
• A strong willingness to learn and grow.
• A full driving licence.
• Prior experience in the hire sector, or in a comparable sales or operations position.
