About the role

Rakuten Asia Pte. Ltd., headquartered in Singapore’s Central Business District, supports the wider Rakuten ecosystem across Asia. The Finance Analyst will own Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) for the Global Product Business Division and act as a primary point of coordination with Rakuten Group entities across regions such as Japan, India, and the US. The position reports to the Business Planning Section Manager within the division.

FP&A responsibilities

• Handle division-level profit and loss budgets, forecasts, and actual performance, while highlighting key variances and business insights.
• Prepare financial analyses and recurring reports on a weekly, monthly, and annual basis.
• Support the creation and delivery of finance presentations for leadership and other stakeholders.
• Oversee spend control activities, including invoice checks and tracking of revenue-share arrangements.
• Work closely with Finance, Tax, and business teams to support sound financial management.
• Lead the annual budget cycle and other periodic planning exercises for the division.

Operational responsibilities

• Refresh weekly forecasts and monthly actuals by collecting, consolidating, and structuring large data sets into the required templates and formats.
• Calculate and process monthly revenue for both financial reporting and management accounting purposes.
• Administer the billing platform and maintain accurate tenant records.
• Improve the billing platform by identifying enhancement opportunities, defining scope, and helping implement new functionality.

Additional responsibilities

• Identify opportunities to streamline processes, including automation of manual operational work.
• Manage both internal and external contracts.
• Carry out other ad hoc activities assigned by the Business Planning Section as needed.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in FP&A, budgeting, and forecasting, including variance analysis, commentary preparation, and expense management.
• A bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting is required; an MBA, CFA, or CPA is an added advantage.
• Solid finance and accounting expertise, including exposure to financial closing and core accounting methods.
• Exposure to technology finance, such as software capitalization and project cost accounting, is an advantage, as is experience with advertising products or services.
• Very strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills; familiarity with finance systems such as SAP or Cognos is beneficial. Advanced Excel functions such as pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and macros are highly valued.
• Strong analytical capability with the ability to juggle multiple priorities, work independently, and deliver accurate output quickly and reliably.
• Comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels, including non-finance teams.
• Excellent spoken and written English, with the ability to explain complex finance concepts clearly.
• Experience in transfer pricing is a plus.
• Ability to communicate in Japanese is a plus, as collaboration with Japan-based stakeholders is required.
