Role overview

The Engineering Manager will take ownership of the brewery’s maintenance and engineering operations, ensuring the plant runs safely, dependably, and with strong efficiency. This position sits within the leadership group and plays an important part in improving performance while developing a capable and committed team.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering and maintenance function to support safe and dependable plant operations.
  • Build and execute maintenance plans for both the next 12 months and the following 3 years.
  • Contribute as a core member of the brewery leadership team.
  • Drive ongoing improvement through the company’s World Class Manufacturing programme.
  • Oversee maintenance systems, workflows, and overall performance.
  • Manage repair and maintenance budgets, together with suppliers and external service partners.
  • Champion safety, food safety, and environmental programmes.
  • Support initiatives focused on water use, energy efficiency, and sustainability.
  • Ensure the site complies with New Zealand legislation and engineering standards.
  • Coordinate maintenance planning, scheduling, and spare-parts management.
  • Deliver site projects, including capital projects valued up to $1 million.
  • Strengthen cross-functional collaboration across operations, procurement, and engineering teams.

What we are looking for

  • A degree in engineering, preferably Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in manufacturing or operational environments.
  • A strong background in maintenance or engineering, with FMCG experience considered an advantage.
  • Experience leading teams to high performance.
  • Good knowledge of maintenance planning and maintenance systems.
  • A continuous improvement approach, ideally with exposure to Lean, TPM, or similar methods.
  • Project management experience.
