Role Overview
This position supports the rollout of Environment, Health & Safety practices at solar project locations. The goal is to maintain a safe workplace, meet legal and regulatory requirements, and ensure that project safety expectations are followed on site.
Site Safety Execution
- Help put site EHS plans, safety procedures, and safe work methods into practice.
- Observe day-to-day site operations to confirm that safety rules and PPE usage are being followed.
- Make sure higher-risk tasks such as work at height, electrical activities, lifting operations, and excavation are carried out safely.
Safety Checks and Inspections
- Carry out routine safety inspections on site and escalate any unsafe act or condition.
- Support daily toolbox talks and safety briefings for the workforce.
- Assist in tracking safety compliance across contractors and subcontractors.
Permit and Record Maintenance
- Support the Permit-to-Work process for activities such as hot work, electrical work, work at height, and confined space entry.
- Keep basic EHS documentation up to date, including attendance, toolbox talk records, inspection checklists, and permits.
Incident Reporting and Follow-up
- Immediately report accidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions to the EHS In-Charge or Manager.
- Assist with initial incident reviews and help track corrective actions through to closure.
Environmental Controls
- Support site-level environmental measures such as waste sorting, housekeeping, dust suppression, and noise reduction.
- Ensure hazardous and non-hazardous waste is handled and disposed of according to site procedures.
Training and Awareness
- Assist with EHS induction sessions for new workers and site visitors.
- Encourage safety awareness among workers, staff, and contractors.
Coordination on Site
- Work closely with site engineers, supervisors, and contractors to address safety-related concerns.
- Serve as a day-to-day safety contact at the project location.
Qualifications and Experience
A diploma is preferred for this role. Candidates should have 2 to 5 years of experience working as an EHS Supervisor or Safety Officer, ideally on solar or renewable energy projects.
Key Skills
Strong understanding of EHS practices, construction site safety, hazard spotting, and site coordination is essential. Effective communication and awareness of solar project operations are also important.
